Where Mitchell Street meets the river road

The building is brick, with an iron verandah and two lamps by the door. It sits between the saddlery and the chemist, a short walk from the old wharf and the lift-span bridge over the Darling. The map shows the street entrance; the car park gate is just along the lane to the right.

Getting here

Finding the door, whichever way you come

  1. From the highway

Follow the Mitchell Highway into town, and when it becomes Mitchell Street keep going until you see two lamps on an iron verandah on the left. The building is number forty-three, between the saddlery and the chemist.

  2. From the river

Walk up from the wharf along the main street, cross at the traffic island and look for the brick building with the pressed-tin awning. It takes about ten minutes at an easy pace, and the path is lit all the way after dark.

  3. Parking at the kerb

Angled spaces run along the front of the building and the next three doors. They are free, and on a weeknight there is usually room right outside. On Friday and Saturday they fill by half past six, so aim for the car park behind.

  4. Parking behind

Turn into the lane beside the saddlery and the small car park is at the back. A lamp marks it on busy nights, and the felt room door is a few steps from the gate.

  5. By taxi or lift

Ask the driver for the lamps on Mitchell Street. A quick phone call to the front desk will bring someone out to the kerb with an umbrella if the weather is bad.

  6. On foot with a pram

The front door has a ramp, and the dining room is all on one level, so prams and wheelchairs roll straight to a table. Tell Louise Georgiou if you need extra space.

  7. Coming in late

If you are held up on the road, ring and we will hold your table for fifteen minutes past your booking. Beyond that we may have to pass it to someone waiting.

  8. Leaving at night

The kerb outside is well lit, and a staff member will walk you to the car park behind if you would like company. Ask for a lift home if you need one, and we will call you a taxi.
