“Book a table, or a seat, or both”

A table for dinner and a seat at the cards are two different bookings, and you can make either or both. Tell us what you want and we will do the rest.

Before you book

Two bookings, one evening

A dinner table is held in the dining room, anywhere between half past five and a quarter to nine. A card-table seat is a place in the felt room, and it is booked for an evening rather than a time. You may want both, and many guests do.

Booking is free, and so is the evening in the felt room. The only cost is the meal you choose to eat. We hold every table for fifteen minutes past the time you give, then pass it on, and we would be grateful if you rang to say you are running late. A short call keeps the evening moving for everyone waiting.

Walk-ins are welcome when there is room, but weekends fill early, so ring or write ahead if you can. The form below goes to Louise Georgiou, who confirms by e-mail within a day.

What guests ask when they book

How far ahead should I book?

Weekdays are usually fine on the day, but Friday and Saturday fill a week ahead. Groups of eight or more should ring or write at least a few days before, so we can set the long table and ask the kitchen to plan.

Can I change or cancel?

Yes, with no charge. Ring us on the number below or reply to your confirmation. A quick call means we can offer your table to someone else, which is all the courtesy we ask. If you cancel a booking for the long table, a little more notice is appreciated.

Do you take children?

Children are welcome in the dining room until seven. The felt room, which is for guests eighteen and over, is closed to them, though a grown-up can always step in for a few minutes while someone else keeps watch. Tell Louise about high chairs when you book and one will be ready.
