“What's on tonight?”
Dinner is served every night we are open, and the felt room follows its own rhythm. Here is the whole week, then a few special evenings and how to book a private one.
Night by night, Tuesday to Sunday
| Day | From | At the table and in the kitchen |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | — | Closed to the public. The kitchen bakes for the week, Noel Saunders oils the wheel and the felt is brushed and rested. |
| Tuesday | 17:30 | Pie night: all four pies are on the list, and roulette lessons run from seven for newcomers and the plainly curious. |
| Wednesday | 17:30 | The roast of the day is carved at the table, then two blackjack tables open at eight with a dealer who explains every deal. |
| Thursday | 17:30 | Yellowbelly or Murray cod from the river, followed by a small and friendly Omaha tournament at half past seven. |
| Friday | 17:30 | Dinner, then sign-in for the weekly Texas Hold'em tournament from half past six. |
| Saturday | 17:30 | The long table for twelve, a set supper from six, and Seven Card Stud and Five Card Draw once the plates are cleared after nine. |
| Sunday | 17:30 | Sunday roast with all the trimmings, an early finish and one big game of roulette for the whole room until close. |
Special evenings that come around each year
| When | Doors | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Opening of the cool season | 17:30 | A long supper under the lamps and the first Hold'em tournament of the year. |
| Shearing weeks | 17:30 | Shed-cook menus, with mutton, damper and a billy of tea on every table. |
| Before the heat | 17:00 | An early sitting with ice-cold lemonade and a quiet evening of roulette. |
| When the river runs | 17:30 | A fish supper to celebrate good water, followed by a relaxed night at the tables. |
Hire the house for a night

On Mondays, when the doors are normally shut, the whole building can be yours. We have hosted family reunions, retirement dinners and the annual supper for a group of local volunteers, and each evening is planned with the kitchen and the felt room in mind. A private night suits groups of fifteen to sixty, and the bookings run well ahead, so it pays to ask early.
Tell us how many are coming, whether you want dinner, the casino room or both, and what you would like to mark. We will suggest a menu, set the tables and arrange a dealer or two, and Louise will send you a short plan of the evening by e-mail so everyone knows what to expect. Private evenings are played with chips like every other night, with no wagering and no prizes.
Ask about a private evening
A few details are all we need to start. Louise will ring you back, usually the same day, and talk through the menu, the room and how many chairs you will need.
