For guests over 18
The rule is short and we apply it kindly: the felt room is for adults. Here is what that means at the door.
Eighteen means eighteen
Everyone who comes into Coolabah Room's felt room, plays at a table or enters a tournament must be eighteen or older. The dining room welcomes younger guests until seven in the evening, accompanied by an adult, but the casino room is closed to them completely.
We apply the same rule to everyone. Regulars, visitors and friends of the staff are all asked once, and the question is never meant as an insult. Louise Georgiou checks at the front desk and a dealer checks again at the table whenever there is any doubt.
Accepted identification is a current driver licence, a passport or a recognised proof-of-age card. We cannot accept photocopies, photographs on phones or expired documents, and we cannot make exceptions on a quiet night or for a visitor from a long way away.

Why the rule exists
Card games and the wheel are adult pastimes, and the law places them in adult company. We keep to the rule because it is right, because the people who work here would be uncomfortable otherwise, and because the same rule protects every guest at the table.
What if I am younger
You are welcome for dinner in the dining room until seven with a parent or guardian, and you can come back for the felt room on your eighteenth birthday. Bring your card and tell Louise, and she will be happy to find a seat.
What if I forget my ID
You can still dine. We cannot let you walk through to the felt room without identification, because we have no way to confirm your age. It is better to ring us beforehand if you are unsure what to bring, and we will tell you what is accepted.
Nothing online for anyone
There is no way to play online at all. If a website or a message offers games in the name of Coolabah Room, it has nothing to do with us. Every game is played in person in the building on Mitchell Street.

Dinner is for everyone, but the felt room and these pages are for adults only, so we ask every guest once.
We ask everyone, every time. Nothing here is played for money and nothing is played online.
